Adventures of Bernardo and Salvatore

Michelangelo Buonarroti. Creation of Adam, Sistine Chapel, Rome.

Bernardo walked back to stand again under God sparking life into Adam with a touch of the divine finger. He saw himself there, on the cloud, listless, ready to die, then touched and brought to life again by that powerful, white-bearded giant with the wise, kind face. Overcome with gratitude, he wept in silence, and felt a strange pleasure in his weeping. The ache in his heart lessened. He was seeing the greatest of the world's great frescoes, yes, but more than that. He was seeing the intention of God Himself.
